The meeting was called to order by Chairman Malsack, at 1:00 PM.

District Commissioners in attendance were Phil Malsack (Chairman); Clayton Masters, Treasurer; Randy Schmidt, Howard Sell; Dave Ferge, Rodger Swanke and Paul Gettelman, Secretary.

 

The certification of the open meeting law was met.

Secretary's Report: A motion by Comm. Schmidt and 2nd by Comm. Ferge, to accept the minutes as emailed to commissioners and posted on the web page.Motion Passed.

 

Treasurerís Report: The treasurerís report was handed out for Jan 1Ė August 19, 2009. ††A motion by Comm. Gettelman and 2nd by Comm. Swanke to accept the Treasurerís report as reviewed and submitted.Motion Passed

 

 

District Members Input:Kathy and Bob Moore were in attendance.Kathy is on the AMC committee.Also in attendance was: Ted Johnson WDNR, Water Resource Management Specialist, Mark Sesing WDNR and Derek Kavenaugh Green Lake Co.

 

Old Business

 

A.Commercial FishermanComm. Swanke gave a summary of what the new commercial fisherman, Tim Smith said in regards to taking fish out of the lake.His method is different than the way it was done in the past.He is capable of taking 500,000 lbs of live carp and hauling them back to Ohio alive.He should be starting in September to fish the lake.At this time he is planning on taking the fish out at the fish camp landing area.No subsidy has been discussed or established at this time.The fisherman noted that with his method there should be less game fish caught in his nets, thus less of a loss of game fish during his netting process.

 

New Business

A.     Boat TourA summary of the tour indicated that we saw more vegetation than last year, but that was due to the fact that we had a flood last year.There is possible new pilot project to improve the aquatic vegetation.†† At this stage this all in the planning stage.We are looking at delaying putting the boards on next year pending the spring water levels.(see MOU for 2010) Comm. Gettelman made a motion to adopt Resolution 01-2009 2nd by Comm. FergeMotion passed by a hand vote of 7 yes and 0 nays

B.    Fish TaggingComm. Swanke gave a summary of tagging fish on Puckaway for Northern, Walleyes and Bass.We would tag the fish and report the results to our web page and the DNR.

C.    Comm. Masters made a motion to appropriate up to $500 for aerial photos through the DNR of specific areas for out aquatic vegetation study/survey. 2nd by Comm. Gettelman Motion Passed.

D.    Walleye wagon Comm. Schmidt gave a summary of the status of the walleye wagon.We need to update and get things rolling for next year.

E.     Comm. Schmidt noted that the No Wake Signs need to be fixed.It was noted that there are some buoys being put up in to Marquette Co area of the River.

F.     Comm. Schmidt asked Derek Kavanaugh what is being done regarding the cows in the water in the river by Zacharias Island.He indicated that he has talked with the people and the problem is trying to be worked out.

 

Comm. Schmidt moved to adjourn the meeting.2nd by Comm. Masters.Motion Passed.The meeting was adjourned at 2:05 PM
